The City of York, Pennsylvania - named for York, England. The Continental Congress approved the Articles of Confederation on November 15, 1777 in session in York, earning York the nickname "The First Capital of the United States," since the Articles established the term "The United States of America".
Also known as the White Rose city, reminiscent of the "War of the Roses" in England. Lancaster, PA is the Red Rose city.
